RYA Day Skipper Course Practical
We are one of London and Suffolk's leading sea schools. Practical courses are run from Beacon Marina St Peters Dock Rd, New cut East IP3 0EA, just 1 hour from Liverpool Street
We have many students go on to charter at home and abroad. Day skippers and ICC is now required in many countries. It is often the minimum standard required by charter companies to charter a boat abroad.
RYA Day Skipper Practical Course. (see below for dates)
This course is about learning to be a Skipper, like the Competent Crew course it can be carried out over two weekends (one being along weekend) or five consecutive days

Recommended prerequisites for the Day Skipper practical course are that you are up to the Day skipper theory course standard & you are competent around a yacht.

You will learn about weather, tides, rules of the road and how to plan and execute a simple passage. Most of all we will help you to develop confidence in taking charge of a yacht. You will live aboard the boat with the instructor & other students/crew. (you will be allocated a bunk on the first day)
Each day will involve a mixture of short passages from port to port and intensive exercises. We will be in harbour or anchorage every night but you should also get a few hours experience of night sailing.There will be opportunities to go ashore during some evenings.
The courses are always great FUN. We use yachts just like the ones you will charter abroad. We know what is of importance to you.
You will receive a comprehensive list of what to bring with you when you book.
All meals are provided aboard. Gore-Tex Oil skin water proofs are available FREE of charge.
Achievement: You will be able to skipper a yacht on short passages in familiar/sheltered waters by day. Charter companies will accept your Day Skipper Course certificate as evidence of competence to charter a yacht in UK sheltered waters or in the Med or Caribbean.

just 1 hour from Liverpool Street to Ipswich then a 10 min walk. If you're driving then it's about one hour from the M25 on A12 & A14. There is free parking at the Marina
